Thiamin and vitamin B1 are the common names for the compound 3-(4-amino-2-methylpryrimidin-5-ylmethyl)-4-methyl-5-(2-hydroxyethyl)-thiazolium, which was also formerly known as aneurin or thiamine (Illus. 1).
