Poultry: Choline

Vitamin Safety

Derilo and Balnave (1980) reported a reduced gain and efficiency in young broiler chicks fed a level of choline only slightly in excess of the requirement. Studies with chickens suggest that dietary choline at twice the requirement is safe (NRC, 1987). Some of the chicken data indicates a growth reduction and interference with the utilization of vitamin B6 when the dietary level of choline exceeds twice the required level.
