Biotin

Biotin is an essential coenzyme in carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism. It is involved in conversion of carbohydrate to protein and vice versa, as well as conversion of protein and carbohydrate to fat.

Biotin is present in many feedstuffs; however, corn, wheat, other cereals, meat and fish are relatively poor sources. There is considerable variation in biotin content within individual sources.

Less than one-half of the biotin in various feedstuffs, as determined by microbiological assay, is biologically available.
