Zeaxanthin is a naturally occurring carotenoid that can be found in a variety of vegetables and fruits, including corn, squash, peas, cabbage, peppers, oranges, kiwis, and grapes. Of the more than 600 carotenoids found in nature, zeaxanthin is one of only two carotenoids (along with lutein) located in the macula as well as the lens of the eye.
Scientific evidence suggests that zeaxanthin and lutein play beneficial roles in maintaining eye health and may reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration and cataracts.
