Vitamins are defined as organic compounds which:

- Do not provide energy and do not serve as building units in the body
- Catalyze reactions, as part of the enzyme systems within the organism
- Are present in natural foodstuffs and are not produced in the body except
for Vitamin D
- Help protect skin cells and tissues (such as vitamin A and Pro-vitamin B5 (Panthenol))
