Our answer to the increased market needs for highly functionalized pharmaceutical and agrochemical compounds is reflected by our knowledge-base on aromatic substitutions and cross-coupling reactions. These reactions are increasingly being used for the production of pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates, thanks to their compatibility with a wide range of functional groups.
Use of these technologies in a late stage of the synthesis is a good tactic as it reduces the need for protection/deprotection. DSM's proprietary technology allows for the efficient multi-ton scale production of these highly functionalized intermediates as essential building blocks for complex molecules.
-
Heck reaction (unique position in catalyst recycle and very low palladium loadings)
- Negishi/Kumada/Suzuki (e.g. aryl halide + aryl metal)
- Sonogashira (e.g. aryl halide + alkynyl metal)
- Amination (e.g. aryl halide + aryl amine)
- Capability to use aromatic nitriles or carboxylic anhydrides instead of aryl halides
