A client asked if we could reproduce an enzyme present in a certain tropical rubber tree, which could be used as a biocatalyst for industrial production of S-benzaldehyde cyanohydrin (S-CMB).
Working closely with DAI/INNO we cloned the rubber tree gene. Then, in fermentation and with the induction of Methanol, we created sizeable quantities of the enzyme.
Our Capua facility is now the only one in the world capable of producing 35m3 in this process. And we were able to present our client with the quantities needed, according to the timetable.
