Cure in Place Pipe

Cure In Place Pipe or relining refers to the rehabilitation of damaged or worn sewer systems. The traditional way to repair such a sewer system is by digging up the streets and replacing the whole system with new (often concrete) structures. These complicated and time-consuming operations are hardly possible anymore in today’s traffic-laden cities. It is therefore that in the 1970s a new technology was developed, called Cured In Place Pipe. This technology was based on a resin impregnated (including high temperature curing system) flexible tube that could be transformed into a structural pipe (inside the deteriorated pipe) by circulating hot water through the pipe. With this technique, a 600 meter sewer pipe could be rehabilitated within a day! Nowadays, many variants on this technology have been developed. The combination of the reinforcement (felt, veil or glass), the method of installation (pull in or inversion) and the chosen curing system (cold cure, hot cure or UV light cure) will determine the overall quality of the final end product. Depending on requirements and chosen CIPP processing technique, a resin should be chosen. DSM, as leading supplier to the CIPP industry, is capable of delivering fit for purpose resins for all techniques, ranging from standard polyester resins to corrosion resistant epoxy based vinyl ester resins.
