Business Consultancy firm Frost & Sullivan has awarded their annual Product
Innovation Award to DSM Composite Resins and its Aeronite® Turane resin.
The award is chosen according to categories, and DSM won the 2008 Global
Aerospace Polymers & Composites division with its latest grade of Aeronite®
Turane, designed specifically to meet the needs of Aerospace manufacturers.
Turane is a thermosetting polyurethane created via a radical polymerisation
process, which gives end-users a product that can be processed much faster
than conventional resins, while retaining the excellent mechanical and
chemical properties of polyurethanes. Turane also offers good thermal
resistance and strength with very low weight compared to aluminium parts.
Turane resins can be used in a wide range of applications where
fast-processing times and strong mechanical properties are essential.
In its co-exhibit with LH Aviation at the JEC show in Paris this week, DSM
demonstrates the use of the Aeronite® Turane resin system, which has been used
in the exciting new LH-10 Ellipse sports aircraft. The LH-10 breaks speed and
efficiency records for its class, in part due to the low weight, high strength
properties of Turane. This demonstrates how Turane enables smaller
manufacturers like LH Aviation to take advantage of the benefits of advanced
composites.
“We’re thrilled to have been chosen for this award, because it underlines
DSM’s long-term commitment to innovation based on the needs of our customers,”
said Michael Effing, President of DSM Composite Resins.
To choose a recipient for this award, Frost & Sullivan track all new product
launches and any features or modifications. This is achieved through
interviews with people using the technology, and companies are compared
according to the degree of innovation and customer satisfaction. Companies are
also ranked by numbers of new product launches and new products in development.
