DSM Composite Resins announces the sale of its Uraplast Polymeric Plasticizer Resins Business to Polynt S.p.A.

DSM is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of polymeric plasticizer resins for PVC, elastomers, adhesives, coatings and other applications, an attractive niche business traded under the name Uraplast.

The company’s core activities however are within the composites sector where DSM Composite Resins is the European market leader in unsaturated polyester resins and the global market leader in Sizings & Binders.

As part of its strategy to lead the Composites industry via innovation and dedication, DSM Composite Resins took the decision to divest the Uraplast business. 

Polynt S.p.A., a specialty chemical company listed on the Italian Stock Exchange, is a major player in plasticizers and is active in the niche market of chemical intermediates for polymer production..The acquisition of the Uraplast polymeric plasticizers business is an excellent fit and an attractive addition to its current portfolio. The purchase confirms Polynt’s continuous commitment to this important product line and towards high added value Specialty Products.

The sale transfers all intellectual property, including rights to the Uraplast tradename, together with product formulations, production procedures and commercial information; as well as inventories of finished stock and raw materials.

No employees, production facilities or fixed assets will transfer with the business. To ensure continuity of supply to customers, DSM will continue to produce Uraplast products at its facility in Schoonebeek, the Netherlands, under a toll agreement between the two companies. This will continue until such a time that Polynt has fully migrated the new products and technologies.
