PALAPREG in class A exterior body panels
DSM Composite Resins have developed high quality low shrinkage resins and low
profile additives which enable our customers to produce SMC for high quality
Class A exterior body panels for passenger cars and trucks. Because our resins
have been successfully used for many products, over many years, we can
recommend with confidence, systems to suit the excact needs of the end use
application The portfolio includes:
Palapreg P18.03, Palapreg 0423-02 and Palapreg H2681-01 which represent a
range of class A resin solutions that combine excellent surface appearance and
high temperature resistance. They allow parts to withstand the high baking
temperature of the Ecoat process (190 C).
Applications of our PALAPREG class A resin systems includes exterior body
panels such as hoods, decklids, spoilers, hardtops and tailgates. In total
more than 100 exciting highly demanding applications.

The decklid of the BMW 6
series which is produced by our customer INOPLAST, a french company.
Production volume is on a level of approximately 30.000 units/year. For BMW
the drivers to use PALAPREG based sheet moulding compound for thei application
include; possibility to integrate antennea systems, ability for on-line
painting and design freedom.
