DSM Desotech, a world leader in the development and supply of UV-curable materials, is pleased to announce the opening of DSM Desotech Specialty Chemicals (Shanghai) Ltd.  The new plant (DDSC) is Desotech's fourth manufacturing facility to date, now producing Cablelite® fiber optic inks for the Asia-Pacific region.  Desotech's other plant locations include: Hoek van Holland, the Netherlands; Stanley, North Carolina, USA; and Tsukuba, Japan.  The Tsukuba plant is part of Japan Fine Coatings Co., Ltd—a joint venture between DSM and JSR.

According to Weber Lin, DSM Desotech Sales Director-Asia, the formation of DDSC came in direct response to significant growth in the Asian optical fiber and cable market over the past several years.  

“The Chinese optical fiber industry has grown substantially over the past three to four years,” says Lin.  “The opening of DDSC now provides Desotech customers world-class quality Cablelite® materials with all the benefits of local production.”

Production equipment, manufacturing processes and quality control measures at DDCS have been carefully engineered to the same stringent standards as those of Desotech's other ink manufacturing facility in Stanley, NC.  For this reason, China customers confirm that DDSC-produced Cablelite inks are consistent in both product quality and package appearance as those they have received from Desotech in the past.

In 1999, DSM Desotech established its first local sales office in Shanghai, followed by the opening of both a technical service center and a distribution center in 2003.
