Purox B - flakes and liquid -

The excellent quality of our standard grade Purox B ensures a consistently high performance in your production processes. Benzoic acid is used in a range of applications as a raw material, building block or to directly improve the performance of your end product.

To improve gloss, adhesion, hardness and chemical resistance of the final product Purox B is used as a terminator for the chain propagation reaction in the production of alkyd resins. In synthetic polyester fibres, Purox B is added to improve finish. Incorporation of benzoic acid in HDPE filaments and thermoplastic elastomers results in high-strength filaments, for example for fishing nets.

It is also a building block for specialty benzoate plasticizers, which are considered more environmentally friendly than phthalate-based plasticizers.

Benzoic acid is a raw material for a large range of products like phenol, benzoyl chloride,  propiophenone, caprolactam, photo-initiators and polyamide. Benzoic acid is a corrosion inhibitor in automotive cooling liquids.

Since the introduction of Purox B in October 2001 we have received very positive feedback from our customers. The high chemical purity means that Purox B flakes have a very low intrinsic caking tendency.

Easy discharge of bags is guaranteed by the excellent flow characteristics. The extremely low impurity profile also increases the efficiency of our customers’ processes.

To meet specific processing demands, Purox B is available either in liquid form or as flakes. Purox B liquid is supplied at a temperature of around 140°C. Flakes typically measure between 0.5 and 4.5 mm, while their free bulk density is around 540 kg/m3.
