As the requirements for airline security become ever-more stringent after 9/11, Dyneema® is increasingly being used to provide the ballistic protection now becoming mandatory in airliner cockpit doors. Dyneema® was used in the first bullet-resistant cockpit door (designed by C&D Aerospace) to be approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration.

Over 80% of all aircraft in the USA now boast an armored cockpit door containing Dyneema®, including the Boeings 737 and 757, various types of McDonnell Douglas aircraft and planes manufactured by Bombardier and Embraer, both of whom fit their aircraft exclusively with doors made by C&D.
