In weaving Dyneema® yarns, the key concern is to minimize any loss of tenacity
and modulus. Area density and the construction of the fabric determine the
rest of the production process and the performance of the final product.
Full-size tests at our Technicum laboratory enable us to advise on the best
fabric style for most applications.
No special equipment or training is required to knit Dyneema® yarns. Filament
yarns of Dyneema® SK60, SK65 or SK75 may be used in all available deniers.
Dyneema® filament yarn has been used as such for 100% fabric made with
Dyneema®. The filament yarn can also be knitted in combination with cotton to
improve comfort or reduce unnecessarily high performance.
Dyneema® yarns are cut to staple fibers and spun to lower or special deniers
for special applications. Chopped Dyneema® fibers have also been tested in a
large number of spun yarn combinations with other fibers for knitted gloves
and protective clothing. Dyneema® is white and cannot be dyed, but can be
mixed with other textiles for a stippled effect.
