Ropes made with Dyneema® provide an optimal solution to the need faced by leading oil producers to drill and produce oil in deep and ultra-deep water, using Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODUs) in the most cost-effective way possible:

Dyneema® saves on transportation costs: the compactness of ropes made with Dyneema® allows for the use of smaller winches and anchor-handling vessels (AHV), or reduces the number of AHV trips needed.

Because ropes made with Dyneema® are light and relatively thin, they are easy to handle, minimizing installation and recovery costs.

Thanks to their narrow diameter (about half that of polyester ropes of the same strength), ropes made with Dyneema® can be used with conventional anchor-handling vessels and existing hardware, such as winches, sheaves and shackles. In addition, the ropes have neutral buoyancy, so no additional buoys are needed.

Ropes made with Dyneema® are extremely durable, due to their high resistance to abrasion compared to polyester or aramid, their lack of corrosion and their low creep rate (lower than any other commercially available HMPE fiber).
