Coast guards and navies armor their vessels with Dyneema® due to its light
weight and the fact that its superb anti-ballistic performance is not
negatively affected by sea water, unlike other materials. The limited weight
of armor panels made with Dyneema® means that their effect on a ship’s
performance (i.e., speed and overall balance) is kept to a minimum.
