DSM intends to appoint Mr Ewald Kist as a member of its Supervisory Board of Directors.

Mr Kist (60) has worked for the ING Group since 1969. He has held several managerial positions within the Group, including a 3-year term in Washington D.C. as President of ING’s US insurance operations. In 1993 he was appointed member of the Executive Board of the ING Group and became Vice-President of this Board in 1999. Since May 2000 Mr Kist has been Chairman of the Executive Board of ING Group.

Mr Kist will retire as of 1 June 2004. He has Dutch nationality.

His appointment as a member of the DSM Supervisory Board (with effect from 1 July 2004) will be discussed at the next DSM General Shareholders meeting (31 March 2004).
