Bernard van Schaik (51), currently Business Group Director of DSM Coating Resins, has been appointed Business Group Director of DSM Pharmaceutical Products (DPP) with effect from 1 May 2003. He will succeed Henk Numan. The DPP business group was created on 1 July last year and specializes in the development, scale-up and production of customer-specific products for the pharmaceutical industry. DPP consists of three business units:
- DSM Pharmaceutical Chemicals: the world market leader in complex intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients.
- DSM Biologics: a major player in the market for biotechnology-based pharmaceuticals, such as recombinant proteins, antibodies, gene therapeutics and vaccines.
- DSM Pharmaceuticals Inc., Greenville (USA): a supplier of various pharmaceutical dosage forms.
Don Verstegen (58) has been appointed Business Group Director of DSM Coating Resins (DCR) with effect from 1 May 2003. He was previously director of DSM Agro. At DSM Coating Resins he will succeed Bernard van Schaik. DSM Coating Resins develops and produces resins for coating systems and is the market leader in powder coating resins with a market share of 25%. DCR also develops environment-friendly water-based coating systems. It has production facilities in the Netherlands, Spain, the USA, Germany, Sweden, China and Taiwan.
Renso Zwiers (48), currently Managing Director of DEX Plastomers, has been appointed Business Group Director of DSM Agro with effect from 1 May. He will succeed Don Verstegen. DSM Agro produces high-nitrogen fertilizers for grasslands and for agricultural crops, which it supplies to agricultural wholesalers in Northwestern Europe. DSM Agro ranks among the market leaders in Belgium, Germany and France.
Henk Numan (53), currently Business Group Director of DSM Pharmaceutical Products, has been appointed Corporate Director Strategic Projects with effect from 1 May 2003. In this capacity he will report to the Managing Board of Directors. Besides strategic projects he will focus on the optimization and expansion of DSM’s role in the pharma market.
