Today, DSM announces its official sponsoring of the Swiss Fencing team. In the
run-up to the Beijing Olympics, DSM is supporting the team lead by Marcel
Fisher, who won the Olympic gold medal in Athens in 2004.
This top-level Fencing Team is joining DSM’s Unlimited Sports Team. DSM is
already innovation partner of the two best Dutch sailing teams in the 470
class, the Dutch men’s volleyball team, Dutch pole vaulter Rens Blom and Dutch
Paralympics wheelchair tennis player Sharon Walraven.
By adding this Swiss fencing team to its Unlimited Sports Team, DSM’s
involvement in sport is gradually becoming an international effort. Jan
Zuidam, deputy chairman of DSM’s Managing Board and chairman of DSM’s Olympic
Steering committee, gave the following comment: “The Swiss
Fencing Team consists of ambitious and successful sportsmen and women who are
currently preparing themselves for the Beijing Olympics of 2008. I welcome
them very much in our DSM Sports Team. Through our innovations in the fields
of materials and nutrition we will work closely together with them on their
way to success.”
Fencing exists since approximately 1463 in Switzerland and has an image of
sustainability and innovation achieved by regularly winning medals at
international competitions and Olympic Games. The Swiss Fencing team will be a
major medal contender at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Andreas Moser, responsible for the Swiss Fencing team communications gave the
following comment: “The Swiss Fencing team is very proud to get this
sponsoring agreement with DSM. Swiss Fencing stands for precision, speed,
elegance and concentration. This matches exactly with the key messages of DSM,
like sustainability and innovation. Our sport association needs this support
to ensure its success and we are looking forward to having a fruitful
cooperation with DSM.”
DSM and sport
Sport is about performing at a top level, day in,
day out. About passion, ambition, wanting to be the best, about continuous
improvement and teamwork. As such, sport embodies a number of DSM’s core
values. Just like sports people DSM is continuously pushing its limits:
Unlimited.DSM. Innovation is one of the main spearheads of DSM’s strategic
course, and it is equally important in the world of sports: innovations in the
fields of nutrition and materials can mean the difference between victory and
defeat. Innovation is our Sport™ is therefore an apt title for DSM’s
program in the field of sports.
DSM and the Dutch Olympic Committee/Dutch Sports Federation (NOC*NSF) have
been ‘Partners in Sport’ since 2001. In the run-up to Beijing 2008, DSM
has stepped up its efforts in the field of sports and innovation even further
in the hope of making a major contribution to the success of the Dutch Olympic
team during the 2008 Summer Games.
