Whether you’re marking on engineering plastics, polyolefins, difficult to mark
polymers such as silicone rubber, Micabs delivers top quality in a wide range
of applications. It has already proven to be the technology of choice for
indelible dark markings in the following application segments:
|
 |
 | Animal Identification |
|
Micabs is a robust solution for animal tags, providing lot-to-lot consistency
and therefore always ensuring the same high marking speeds with the same
unsurpassed contrast. What’s more, Micabs has no effect on chemical
resistance, background color, mechanical properties or UV stability. It
therefore increases the lifespan of tags.
|
 |
 | E&E: MCBs and connectors |
|
Micabs also offers lot-to-lot consistency in the electrical and electronics
(E&E) segment, and does not affect critical electrical properties. The
combination of high resolution and improved contrast that Micabs provides
leads to higher marking speeds. All in all, Micabs is a cost-effective
solution for this segment.

 | Plastic caps & closures |
|
Micabs® is ideal for use in beverage caps for high speed "under the cap"
promotion, in either one piece or two piece caps. Micabs® is in full
compliance with the relevant FDA and EU framework Directives - statements
available on request. In addition Micabs® can be used in dispensing and child
resistance closures as the laser mark is solvent resistant. For more
information please download

 |
 | Packaging: synthetic corks |
|
Micabs allows the laser marking of injection-molded and extruded synthetic
corks at high speeds. Micabs can be easily added by dry blending or
compounding, without influencing the foaming process. The markings will last
when the cork is removed from the bottle, and silicon treatment is possible
before marking. A Compliance Statement for Food Contact is available upon
request. For more information please download

 | Packaging: bottles |
|
Micabs’ general-purpose polyolefinic carrier with low melting point allows for
easy dispersion in polyolefins. The small size of the laser-active particles
is ideal for thin-walled, blow-molded objects such as bottles. Micabs’
advantages in this application include simple dry blending, no effect on
processability or product properties, and chemical-resistant markings (e.g.,
resistant to grease, oil or fat).
|
 |
 | Packaging: film and laminates |
|
Thanks to the micron-sized laser-active particles, Micabs can easily be
dispersed in polyolefinic, polyester, polyamide and other films. Benefits
include no influence on processing conditions, nearly transparent films and
laminates, marking of simple characters, barcodes, and micro markings for
anti-counterfeit and tracking and tracing purposes. High-definition images are
possible but decrease line speeds.
|
 |
 | Cable, wire and tubing |
|
Micabs provides the solution to problems with ink adhesion in silicone, TPE,
TPU, TPV, SEBS, polyolefinic or other polymer cable coating, wire and tubing
applications. Using Micabs has no effect on extrusion conditions. Laser
marking guarantees long term readability even in harsh chemical, wet or
underground environments. The laser marking can be applied in line at high
speed.
|
 |
 | Silicone keypads |
|
Micabs does not rely on the carbonizing ability of the matrix, which makes it
the only laser additive able to provide black marking on silicone keypads,
cable coatings (see above) and seals. In these applications, adding Micabs
allows marking of simple characters, barcodes and micro markings for
anti-counterfeit and tracking and tracing purposes.
|
 |
 | Security and credit cards |
|
Micabs can be used in a wide range of injection-molded, coextruded or
laminated structures for all types of security and credit cards. Why not try
adding Micabs to polyester and polyolefinic films to replace polycarbonate.
Benefits include high-definition markings, excellent grayscale response for
high-quality images and micro marking, and customized security features.
