The Globally Harmonised System (GHS) of the United Nations is a new system for
Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. The harmonization combines the UN
Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods with New Requirements for
the Handling of Chemicals as an extracted result from all existing
International Legislations. The new GHS ensures that Hazardous Goods are
described and labelled in the same way globally. The new system will
facilitate trade and contribute towards global efforts to protect humans and
the environment from hazardous effects. The GHS is currently an ongoing Global
Initiative which has already been implemented in national legislation of some
UN member countries. The new system must be implemented worldwide within a
given transition time.
DSM is fully committed to GHS requirements and timetables thus safeguarding
the continued supply of its products.
