DSM believes the risk assessment processes and information gathering are
important elements in contributing to the goals of GPS. DSM has defined the
following fields of attention:
-
Developing a process for the prioritization of chemicals of high concern
-
Making the prioritization process publicly available
-
Defining a risk assessment-driven “base set” of information for chemicals in
commerce
-
Developing a process for sharing relevant information
-
Developing guidance on risk assessment and safe use of materials
-
Executing safety assessments
-
Creating Product Safety summaries and making these
publicly available
The ultimate goal of GPS is to increase public and stakeholder awareness and
confidence that chemicals in commerce are safely managed throughout their
lifecycle.
