A plastics manufacturer was supplying the automotive industry with a product
to make bumpers. Why did the product fail? Why didn't this particular type of
polypropylene make the grade? The customer complained that the required
long-term stability was no longer there. It was up to DSM Resolve to figure
out what was wrong with the product.
To do that, we zoomed in on the additives used in the plastic. DSM Resolve's
in-house analysis resources enable us to identify and quantify all plastics
additives. Reference material - over a thousand additive samples - is
immediately on hand in our laboratories.
The problems at the bumper-maker were traced back to the use of diluted
product. Our specialist analysis helped the customer to avoid suffering major
commercial losses.
The stakes can be very high. We often have to complete our analysis under
considerable time pressure: large consignments of the product to be
investigated might be awaiting delivery. All the same, our extensive product
knowledge and years of experience enable us to determine the additives quickly
and effectively, time after time.
