Interior Skin applications of Sarlink

Driver, passenger and side airbag covers

Functional requirements for airbag covers

  • Explosion resistant, sufficient structural stiffness at > 85° C
  • No "sharp" fragments allowed, brittleness does not occur at -30° C to  -40° C
  • Fixation, or good tear resistance balance at elevated temperatures

Quality requirements for airbag covers

  • Scratch resistant
  • Defect-free injection molding
  • Good thermal and UV stability
  • Low emission and fogging levels
  • 2-shot molding possibilities
  • Suitable for interior coating systems
  • Lot-to-lot consistency

Sarlink 3900 series

Sarlink grades boost TPO performance

DSM Elastomers provides tailor-made Sarlink grades:

  • 35 shore A up to 45 shore D
  • For TPO instrument & door panel skins, or TPO seat covers

Sarlink provides:

  • Easy colorability with polyolefinic color masterbatches
  • Superior UV & heat resistance in a full range of colors
  • Superb grain retention
  • Excellent chemical resistance
  • High tear resistance
  • Good fogging resistance and neutral smell
  • Exceptional low-temperature performance for airbag deployment
  • Good high-temperature stiffness for balloon-free airbag deployment
  • High stretchability due to large elongation-to-break
  • Excellent adhesion to polyolefinic substrates
  • Polyolefin recycling compatible
