SOLUPOR® for Drug Delivery Systems

SOLUPOR® can be used as a substrate through which a liquid or a gas can be released in a controlled manner.

Transdermal Drug Delivery

A good example of such controlled release applications is the use of SOLUPOR® in transdermal drug delivery systems. In such systems a drug is released from a reservoir through SOLUPOR® to the skin, where it is absorbed. Driven by more efficient and patient friendly therapies, these innovative Transdermal Drug Delivery Systems (TDDS) are a large and growing segment of the pharmaceutical industry.

DSM Solutech has developed a special SOLUPOR® grade with improved peel strength for this application: SOLUPOR® 10P05A.

  • Controlled thickness
  • Controlled permeability
  • Biocompatible (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene)
  • Medically approved (FDA drug master file, USP Class VI and ISO 10993-1 tests)
