Bicycle reflectors for 50,000 students (China)

  • October 2006 in Zhangjiakou (PRC)

Cyclist safety by night

Two thirds of the Chinese population ride bicycles: without light or reflectors, that is. "DSM values safety as a top priority, and we would like to extend this to the outside world," says Zhu Zhong, explaining the Torch dream to provide the children of the middle and high school in Zhangjiakou city with bicycle reflectors (which was put into effect at the end of September), in order to make them ride more safely at night.

This Torch initiative is also aimed at enhancing bicycle safety awareness: not only among the schoolchildren, but - through them - also their parents, relatives and hopefully even the Chinese bicycle manufacturers.
