Developing countries can benefit from the know-how and experience of Dutch
managers. Harry Fortuin of DSM Elastomers in Sittard (Netherlands) therefore
called on DSM specialists and retired employees to register with the
Netherlands Management Cooperation Programme (NMCP). A number of projects
have already been completed. Jo Kleijnen (DSM Technopartners) spent several
weeks in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, to carry out a feasibility
study for a new fertilizer plant. The fertilizer, which would be produced
using the abundant supplies of lignite in western Ethiopia, could then be used
to improve food production in Ethiopia. Hans de Munck (DSM-EP) visited N
‘Aida, an Iran-based molding and extrusion company to train operators in
polycarbonate extrusion.
Another volunteer was Andy Rose (DADC), who visited DiPlast in India to make
recommendations that would help the company to solve problems it was having
with the quality of its rotomolding and injection-molding activities.
