DSM is aware of the important role of (trade) associations and networks, the United Nations and NGO’s in its engagement with stakeholders. This is why DSM is in continuous dialogue with many of these as well as DSM executives and members of its Managing Board holding official positions in many organizations:

The ACS Green Chemistry Institute® Pharmaceutical Roundtable is a partnership between the American Chemical Society’s Green Chemistry Institute and member pharmaceutical companies dedicated to the integration of green chemistry and green engineering in the global pharmaceutical industry. DSM Pharmaceutical Products is a member.

Chinese and international companies, the government and local communities work together to foster sustainable development in the CBCSD. Wei-Ming Jiang, President of DSM China, is a board member of the CBCSD.

CEFIC is an organization that represents the interests of the chemical industry in Europe. Feike Sijbesma, Chairman of the DSM Managing Board, is a board member of CEFIC.

The Energy Efficiency Benchmarking Covenant

The Energy Efficiency Benchmarking Covenant 
This is a covenant that energy-intensive companies in the Netherlands have signed with the Dutch Ministries of Economic Affairs and the Environment. Under the covenant, these companies are striving to rank among the global front runners (the top 10%) in energy efficiency and thus contribute to the effective implementation of the Kyoto Protocol.

EuropaBio concentrates mainly on representing the interests of its members in Europe, but also represents the members in transatlantic and worldwide forums. Stephan B. Tanda, member of the DSM Managing Board, is a member of the board of EuropaBio.

FEFANA Asbl

FEFANA Asbl
FEFANA Asbl is the EU Association of feed additives and premixtures operators. The association is the interface between the feed additives industry and the European Union authorities, including Member States authorities, in order to promote, safeguard and defend common and general interests of the industry.

NIABA (The Netherlands Biotechnology Association)

NIABA (The Netherlands Biotechnology Association)
NIABA lobbies for companies and organizations involved in developing and/or using biotechnology. Its focus is primarily on the Netherlands, but it is also an active member of EuropaBio, the European umbrella organization for the biotechnology sector.

The Product Carbon Footprint Pilot Project Germany
The Product Carbon Footprint Pilot Project Germany was initiated by Öko-Institut - Institute for Applied Ecology, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), the Berlin-based think/do tank THEMA1 and WWF. The project aims at providing companies with practical joint experiences on assessing and communicating Product Carbon Footprints. The PCF Pilot Project also acts as a forum for discussion on how to best provide relevant information on the climate-impact of products and consumption decisions to consumers.

SGCI is the umbrella organization of the chemical and pharmaceutical industry across the whole of Switzerland. Its 200 member companies are active mainly in the research, development, production or sale of pharmaceutical specialities, vitamins, industrial speciality chemicals, plant protection products as well as aromas and fragrances. Stephan B. Tanda, member of the DSM Managing Board, is a board member of the SGCI.
