Dream Breakfast May 2002

The UK DSM Composite Resins organization hosted a breakfast event to which we invited customers, suppliers as well as all 115 employees. Everyone who attended the breakfast was very impressed with whole concept and ideas behind the DSM Centennial. The local management team felt it very important to encourage our employees to put their dream ideas forward and harness the enthusiasm within the company, so we facilitated a number of ‘dream sessions’ at the locations to get the ideas on the table and mobilize some actions. In total 17 worked out dreams were submitted to the Jury and an additional 28 ideas were generated, which were also submitted as they might be of further interest.

Play area

With this money they decided to combine a number of ideas into a simple action – encourage our young people to plant trees for their own environment. The employees chose three primary schools (ages 4 – 10 years) which were in need of some help in creating a better and improved play area. This theme builds on Leonaras dream of planting trees around the world and focuses young people on the environment in line with DSM Triple P initiative. The schools are all in Ellesmere Port, which is an industrial town, and are attended by DSM employees’ children. The money will be used to improve their play areas by planting trees and landscaping. The chosen schools are: Meadow County Primary, Rossmore Primary and Gorsthills Primary.

Gorsthills Primary School

Gorsthills have completed their tree planting and Geof Tipping, Peter Roberts and Kath Wood presented the cheque. This coincided with ‘Red Nose Day’ a comedy charity event where the whole of the UK wear a red nose and have a wild hair day/fancy dress to raise money for charity.
