Renew toys for local Hospital Meppen

Ludmillenstift Meppen hospital

The Ludmillenstift Meppen hospital (Germany) does not have money to renew the toys for their children’s ward. These children suffer from cancer, pneumonia and other serious and chronic diseases. They need to stay in the hospital for long periods. Therefore Wolfgang Veltrup of DSM Kunstharze Meppen, father of two children, wanted to give them better play facilities. “We have built a play corner which looks like a boat for the kids to play with and also made them happy with some games.” Happily the hospital was so enthusiastic that they spontaneously gave some extra money. This led to a group picture with the caption: "We are all in the same boat ... ".

Torch Hospital
Official handing over

On 18 August 2005 Wolfgang Veltrup and site manager Krijn van Loon officially handed over the boat and games to a delegation of the Ludmillenstift hospital, consisting of hospital director Wilhelm Wolken, the senior physicians of the children's ward, Dr. Matthaei and Dr. Blanke, two nurses and of course several children.

One of the hospital team remarked: "The kids see this nice new room and want to play and forget about their treatment. They do not even want to go home anymore." This was the biggest compliment for Wolfgang and his colleague Ulla Korte.
