Structural support to the local community and helping the unemployed

Clean and safe environment

"We want to give the many unemployed people in our area the opportunity to earn money and at the same time clean up our environment. This will not only create employment but also help to keep our environment clean and safe,” dreamed Adele Vermaak and Jenny Kreissel of DSM Nutritional Products South Africa.

There are recycling centers for used paper, cardboard and bottles in the area where they live. The dreamers encourage unemployed people to collect the used products from the streets and bring them to the centers. These men and women are then paid according to the quantity of recyclable material they bring in. “ We used the Torch money to give 50 people a barrow specially designed this purpose. They also received a t-shirt and a cap to show they were involved in the project and could therefore enter the recycling centers free of charge.
