Playground for older children

Philip Pearson of DSM Bakery Ingredients in Felixstowe (UK) has come up with a ‘Dream Action’ for children aged between 6 and 15. “The kind of kids who stopped going to playgrounds because they think it’s childish ,” he explains. “I wanted to design a play area where they could develop specific sporting skills.”

Philip came up with a playground with a variety of play possibilities, including walls with holes in them to help develop goal-scoring techniques. “ You can use them by yourself or with others, too. By numbering the holes in the wall, you can make the exercise even more attractive and turn it into a competition. You can also make a tennis wall with a net on it so you can practice your repertoire of strokes.”

Philip Pearson wants to help set up a total of 100 play areas for older children all over the UK. His ideal is to offer kids an alternative to sitting home in front of the TV or hanging about on the street. “Playgrounds like this are a great alternative for growing children, both physically and mentally.”
