Weekend with autistic children

  • 7, 8 and 9 October 2005 in Maasmechelen (Belgium)
  • Eric Jehoul, Roel Moors and Marc Quadflieg (DSM Engineering Plastics)

Home Queen Fabiola

Eric, Roel and Marc organized a weekend at the Queen Fabiola Home in Maasmechelen (Belgium) for families with children with autism spectrum disorder. During the weekend the autistic children and their brothers, sisters and parents enjoyed various activities including swimming, walks and horse riding. Just relaxing and doing nothing was of course also an option. Professional helpers were on hand throughout the weekend to supervise. Every child with autism spectrum disorder had an individual coach. All participants greatly enjoyed the pampering and relaxation at the Queen Fabiola Home.

Autism is a complex developmental disability that generally appears during the first years of life. It is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain. Autism spectrum disorder affects one in every 250 people.
