Planting new (mahogany) trees

A large number of staff at DSM Nutritional Products in Makati City in the Philippines put together a plan to tackle the problem of erosion on the beautiful island of Busuanga. The problems occurred in places where trees had been burnt down in order to make way for agriculture. The initiative involves planting new (mahogany) trees and a program to educate the local community. Once the trees are fully developed, local residents will be allowed to fell a (modest) number of them for sale.

Busuanga is an island located in the northern most part of Palawan.
