Interior PaintInterior Paint application consists of a substrate (wood, composite, plastic, or metal) that is first covered with a primer over which a colored topcoat is applied for decorative and protective functions, as shown in the figure below. However priming step is sometimes skipped and topcoat is applied directly above previously applied topcoat. Historically, alkyd or alkyd based primers have been used for applications. With regard to the ever changing environmental regulations, other technologies are now replacing the conventional alkyd primers. For the topcoat solutions, multiple technology based resin solutions with pigments and colors are used for topcoat.
