Diabetes Explained

Diabetes Mellitus – more commonly known as diabetes – is a chronic condition that affects over 150 million people in the world today. The percentage of people suffering from diabetes is increasing rapidly; many medical authorities are now referring to diabetes as an epidemic.

What is diabetes?

Diabetes is a disease which affects the body’s glucose metabolism. Due to deficiency of a hormone called insulin, the body cannot properly use the glucose that is present in the blood stream. The effect of this is that the cells lack glucose to function properly and the elevated glucose levels in the blood can cause subsequent damage to other parts of the body in the long run, leading to a wide range of complications. Managing glucose levels and in particular the glucose peaks following meals is therefore a daily challenge.

Two main types of diabetes

  • Type 1 diabetes: usually detected at a young age. Patients cannot produce any insulin. This affects approximately 10% of all diabetes sufferers

  • Type 2 diabetes: mainly caused through lifestyle and diet habits. The body still produces insulin, but not enough. This affects approximately 90% of all diabetes sufferers

When diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, most people are advised to follow a strict diet. Like with all diet and lifestyle changes, this is not an easy task. For diabetics however, it is extremely important to make this change as prolonged elevated blood glucose levels are believed to have a direct impact on their quality of life later on. In this InsuVital™ can help.

InsuVital™ represents a breakthrough in the management of type 2 diabetes. It actively lowers the glucose peaks resulting from intake of sugar or meals, and gives the day to day control back to the patient. Show me how InsuVital™ works.
