Safety

Proteins are an essential part of our everyday diet. Enzymes in the gastro-intestinal tract divide proteins into tiny peptides in the same way that PeptoPro® is cut into tiny peptides by enzymes during its production process. These enzymes are food-grade and entirely safe. Products similar to PeptoPro® have been used for decades in infant nutrition and sports drinks. They are Generally Recognised as Safe (FDA-GRAS list section 184.1553).

As a food supplement originally developed for Olympic athletes, DSM needed to guarantee the safety and potential doping properties of PeptoPro®. As anticipated, the official Dutch Doping Committee (NeCeDo) agreed that a drink containing PeptoPro® was not a form of doping and placed the product on their ‘white list’.
