How much do you need? Is it safe? Is it natural?

How much food protection product do you actually need to be effective?
“Ultimately, food protection products make the world a safer place – and you actually need very little to make a difference. Just 1kg of natamycin can actively treat 10,000 Gouda cheeses. That’s 120,000kg of cheese! Now when you consider that the average Western family eats 0.5 kg of cheese a week…we’re helping to protect 240,000 families.”

How safe are the products?
“It’s surprising how many people still wonder if food protection products are safe for consumption. For the record, our answer is yes! Protection = safety; and all our products are safe and based on active ingredients that are approved by all the relevant authorities, (i.e. EU, CODEX/JECFA, FDA), as well as complying with the purity requirements defined by the same authorities. Furthermore, our products are manufactured following GMP requirements and sanitary measures which comply with the hygiene regulations laid down by International Food Laws.”

To what extent are the products ‘natural’?
“ The definition of a ‘natural substance’ as defined by the EC* is: ‘A substance that is naturally present and has been identified in nature’.” Natamycin, for instance is produced by a naturally occurring micro-organism that produces natamycin by fermentation, similar to wine-making or beer brewing.” *Regulation (EC) 1334/2008
