Controlled drug release products

More and more complex pharmaceutical products are entering the market that are aimed at the controlled or slow release of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) in the human body. To achieve the desired release performance, the APIs are combined with polymers and/or other excipients. While modeling and release testing provide a lot of information on the expected performance, there are often unanswered questions that remain.

To better understand the release mechanisms of APIs, it can help to visualize the distribution of the different components in the product.  Interactions between a polymer and an API can also play an important role here. We have established and are continually improving our toolbox to help you answer these questions.
