Corrosion engineering

The corrosion of metals and other materials is a frequent and enormous problem for industry. It leads to material loss, product contamination, and the reduced reliability and availability of industrial installations. It also increases costs so it is important to prevent corrosion. In-depth knowledge of a damaged material is required to understand its corrosion-failure mechanism. This includes the chemistry of the medium, the electrochemistry of the corroded interface, as well as knowledge of the barriers at the interface, like coatings or inhibitors.

We have extensive knowledge and experience in the behavior of materials and failure mechnisms that can occur in industrial installations. Based on our expertise, we can assess a detailed engineering plan in the design phase to determine possible damage and corrosion risks. We can estimate the remaining lifecycle for ongoing processes. We can also do a fitness for service assessment of the current status of a non-compliant or damaged installation to determine  if, when and under which conditions it would be possible to put the process into operation.

We can help you make the best choices to prevent corrosion or minimize it, based on your needs – safety considerations, availability of equipment and lifecycle costs. Whatever your challenge, we have the knowledge and experience to come up with a solution for preventing or correcting your corrosion problems.
