Stanyl® - for turbocharged performance

Turbocharger inlet elbow

Turbochargers generate high temperatures and pressure variations in the air flow as they increase engine and fuel efficiency. Components in the turbocharger system need to withstand these temperature and pressure extremes reliably over the expected lifetime.

Stanyl has the property profile to best deliver lightweight plastic parts with reliability in the critical temperature range, within the cost expectations of the industry, e.g. for:

  • Intercooler end caps
  • Turbocharger elbows
  • Hot air ducts

Stanyl has outstanding creep resistance which ensures seal integrity even over many pressure cycles. Leakage and loss of pressure is the primary concern for manufacturers of turbo systems, Stanyl delivers what is required.

Stanyl - best intercooler end cap solution

Charged air cooler end cap

Intercoolers reduce charge air temperature after compression by the turbocharger, getting more air to the cylinders, improving engine efficiency and reducing pre-combustion risks.

Plastic end caps give significant cost and weight reduction compared to aluminum parts. Stanyl gives highest sealing integrity to aluminum radiator due to its unique material properties combination

  • Best stiffness at high temperatures
  • Best creep resistance at high temperatures
  • Best fatigue resistance - withstands charge air pressure variations

Stanyl for lowest system cost in plastic parts

  • Easy flow for shorter cycle times, reduced molding costs and improved productivity
  • Higher stiffness at high temperature for thinner walls, reduced weight and material cost
  • Tough material reduces risk of damage during crimping to radiator compared to PPS or PPA.

Stanyl has been used for more than 10 years by major OEM’s and is the leading high temperature material in these applications
