Making a clear difference

When it comes to fog lamps and bezels you need heat resistant materials that deliver long term, consistent performance…with no outgassing. Our Arnite® A ( polyethylene terephthalate) XL& XL-T and Arnite T (polybutylene terephthalate) grades have been designed specifically to help the automotive industry do just that - superior to various traditional materials in many respects.

Leading the way is our Arnite A XL-T. It combines high heat resistance (HHR) with low out-gassing to deliver a performance approaching those of more expensive HHR thermoplastics like polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) and polyetherimides (PEI).

Critically, Arnite A XL-T doesn’t suffer from the moisture absorption issues that plague polyphthalamides (PPA). And because it's a plastic, the material offers significant weight reduction compared to metals, which means greater fuel economy and thus a lower carbon footprint; improved yet further by the material’s longer lifetime, lower water absorption and better heat distribution.

This is based on long-term tests of fog lamp housings made with the new material versus rival thermoplastics, which show a clear improvement in performance.

Arnite T XL: a versatile alternative

We also offer non-polyester based solutions for lamp housings and bezels based on our popular Arnite T XL grade - which replaces polycarbonate, polyamide 66 and PBT, consolidating to a single material for the application.

Arnite T is strong with excellent stiffness and flow. Most importantly its ability to perform long term at high temperatures gives it exceptional resistance to outgassing.

What’s more this unique thermoplastic offers superb dimensional stability, as well as the ability to be vacuum-metalized without painting. In fact, for systems that get metalized after coating or painting, we offer tailor-made Arnite hybrid solutions with the same thermal, mechanical and stability benefits.

The bottom line is that we match our extensive experience in thermoplastics with a detailed understanding of the material properties needed for high performance, high precision applications. The difference is clear…
