Akulon polyamide resins (PA6 and PA66) represent the best value in all-purpose engineering materials for the automotive industry. Ideal for metal replacement, Akulon is used extensively for molded parts and offers an excellent balance of flexible design and easy processing with outstanding mechanical properties over a wide temperature range.
Akulon® logo

Our expertise in polymers in general - and Akulon in particular - comes from a long history as a leading producer of polyamide resins supported by our backwards-integrated global position in Caprolactam - the raw material for Polyamide 6. We are one of the world’s largest producers of this raw material, which enables us to play a unique role in working with automotive customers to solve their challenges.

Usage

Akulon® PA6 is a glass-fiber reinforced polyamide 6 now being used in applications ranging from airbags to intake manifolds to drivetrain and electrical & electronics. It’s superior in many respects not just to traditional metals, but also to other plastics.

Akulon® Ultraflow offers an 80% improved flow and 25% reduction in injection molding cycle times versus regular Polyamide 6 grades. Furthermore, this same material has the ability to provide a superior finish to reinforced nylon components like engine covers.

Akulon Polyamide 66 is also available from DSM for a range of specialty applications.
