A recent DSM survey shows that while 1 in 3 consumers in the US prepares and eats breakfast in less than five minutes each day, most consumers want the first meal of the day to be both convenient, healthy, and tasty. In sync with this trend, DSM has developed a low-fat vanilla yogurt - perfect for a healthy breakfast on-the-go - with ModuMax®, DSM’s natural taste modulator that helps to restore preferred taste profile in food-plus and food-minus applications. ModuMax improves the taste of a wide variety of sweet and savory healthier foods, and can be labelled as a natural flavor. This showcase product is available to taste and experience for visitors to the DSM booth.

Another focus area that sees strong consumer demand is digestive health. Key digestive health ingredients, like fiber and probiotics, have grown significantly in the past five years. Now prebiotics, the food for bacteria in our microbiome, are emerging as the next super ingredient for digestive health, with sales in dollars having grown by 44% in the past five years.

At IFT, DSM will feature a new prebiotic, called AmpliVida™. AmpliVida is a new xylo-oligosaccharide naturally sourced from organic-certified, non-GMO, high fiber sugar cane grown in the Imperial Valley of California and processed in Arizona using only pure water. It is selectively targeted by beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract without promoting the growth of unfriendly bacteria. It also has a low effective dose of 1-4 g/serving - making it easy to formulate in a range of applications and minimizing the common side-effects of other prebiotics such as gas and bloating.

DSM aims to enable healthy diets for everyone, providing ingredients and solutions that enable customers to make great tasting, healthier, and more sustainable food and beverage products. DSM believes that better food and beverage products should be affordable and accessible to more people - today and in the future. The company is therefore proud to contribute to the creative processes of our customers and help customers develop great tasting, nutritious, healthier, and more appealing food and beverage products that are safe and sustainable.
