Optimize degumming of seed oils

Degumming oil doesn’t need to be quite so reliant on chemicals anymore. Our Purifine® phospholipase degumming enzyme increases your oil yield; but also helps you reduce the amount of chemicals in the production while simultaneously reducing energy and water consumption.

How does enzymatic degumming work?

Specifically, Purifine® reacts with phospholipid impurities in oil, leaving the bulk oil untouched. And because phospholipases break phospholipids into water-soluble and oil-soluble fragments, this reduces their ability to form an emulsion - which in turn means less yield loss due to entrained oil. Unlike single PLA 1 or 2 solutions, PLC-based degumming solutions generate highest yields by capturing 1,2 diacylglycerol (DAG) in the oil phase.

Oil degumming the sustainable way

Purifine® reduces the amount of water and energy used in the production process compared to traditional water degumming – which means a smaller carbon footprint. Furthermore, by using our enzymes for oil degumming you can significantly reduce chemicals like phosphoric acid, sodium hydroxide, or usage of bleaching earth.
