Design and manufacturing of ceramic medical devices

Our diverse design and manufacturing capabilities allow for bioceramic medical devices to be provided as powders, granules, porous shapes, settable pastes, settable putties and anorganic bone. Calcium Phosphates

To further enhance customization, we have the ability to manufacture various calcium phosphate powders used in medical devices that include:

  • α-TCP (tricalcium phosphate)
  • β-TCP (tricalcium phosphate)
  • MCPM (monocalcium phosphate monohydrate)

Our state of the art high temperature powder processes provide the flexibility to create high purity, bi-phasic and tri-phasic ceramic products. In addition, our expertise in conditioning powders provides the necessary control to target the powders’ physical attributes needed for the desired reaction kinetics in the final formulation.

Porous ceramic medical devices

DSM also has the capability to create porous ceramic medical devices. Our cutting edge porous ceramic technology creates interconnected micro and macro porous structures that are ideal for cell migration.

Medical ceramic composites

In addition to our diverse ceramic capabilities, we have the ability to create ceramic composites from collagen and a number of resorbable polymers such as PLA, PGA and PCL. By combining our technical capabilities with your design, we can provide ceramic composites in a number of forms to address the challenges you face in achieving the optimal handling properties for your end application.
