Fuel tank systems

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the US has ruled that carbon emissions for small engine fuel tanks need to be reduced to a figure below 1.5 grams per square meter of internal tank area per day at 28 degrees C, or 2.5 grams per square meter per day at 40 degrees C.

How can manufacturers comply while minimizing system costs – and environmental costs? The answer is Akulon® Fuel Lock a proven and superior alternative to Fluorinated HDPE that enables our customers to get the best of both worlds: Redesigned fuel tanks with thinner walls, lowering systems costs and weight; and an excellent barrier to evaporative emissions (more than six times higher than the regulations require), and guaranteed to last for the lifetime of the product.
