Our commitment to sustainability is based on the very straightforward premise: There is no point in DSM and its customers succeeding in a world that fails.

In the Outdoor Power Equipment market we now offer a whole family of more environmentally friendly plastics, including Akulon® polyamide 6, Stanyl® polyamide 46 and Arnitel® Copolyester Elastomer (TPC) – as well as EcoPaXX® – a 70% bio-based plastic made from tropical castor beans.

These materials are often more environmentally friendly to produce than metals – increasingly based on a Crade-to-Cradle™ approach. They are lighter than metal, which helps to reduce weight, which in turn reduced fuel consumption and carbon emissions. And they are not just unique to Outdoor Power Equipment – in fact, across the entire DSM organization Eco+ products dominate.

Defined as products that provide a clear environmental benefit while providing best-in-class performance, Eco+ products constitute some 94% of the products now in our innovation pipeline and will constitute 50% of our net sales by 2015.
