0,5 billion m2 Powder coated MDF
Global manufacturing of MDF (medium density fiberboard), one of the key engineered wood types for furniture, is approximately 100 million m³ per year. 1 m³ MDF provides 50 pieces of 1m². That means, worldwide there is 5 billion m² MDF manufactured per year. For sure it is not all coated but it gives you an impression of the magnitude. If we take the assumption that 10% of this MDF is coated this would be a volume of 0,5 billion m² Powder Coated MDF per year.

Save up to 2.000.000 tons of CO²
The carbon footprint per m² of a coated mdf, coated on both sides, is approximately 5 kg C0² for solvent borne applications versus approximately 1 kg for Uralac® Ultra coated MDF.

When switching from Solvent borne to Uralac® Ultra approximately 0,5 billion m² X 4 kg/m² = 2.000.000 tons of CO² that will be saved. According to treesforall , this savings is equal to the CO² emission picked up by 3300 ha forest or 2,3 million trees. Or if you compare it to 1 average passenger car, it can drive 237,500 trips around the world to reach the same amount of CO² emission.
